Free concert at Lincoln Memorial

We decided to go to the free concert at Lincoln Memorial. It is estimated that there will be 2 million people in the metro DC area for the Obama Inauguration. Many roads and bridges are closed to traffic, and so people are walking as much as 5 miles just to get to the National Mall for the events. We decided to take our bikes, and pull Ethan in his super warm little bike carrier. We didn't stay for the concert, because the lines were SO long, and it was SO cold! In this first picture, if you look straight ahead, you can see our apartment building (red) from the memorial.

We saw this hawk on the side of a bike trail by Iwo Jima. We may have been more excited about seeing this up close than going downtown. It is eating a squirrel.

That is so cool that you went downtown! I can't believe you have to wait in line just to get on the lawn!
